Friends and Family

Last Friday the 13th, my wonderful friend from

High School, who lives in Knoxville came to visit with me for a few hours. Not nearly long enough. Her grandaughter, Amy was at MTSU Govenor's School. She sings and was on the program that afternoon. Maynelle Butts, my friend, had to leave by the two o'clock program, Amy is on the left and her other granddaughter, Megan in the middle. She has her daughter, Melinda, two granddaughters and son in law, Mike. I can't tell you how many I had to talk about. What fun...we dated, sang in duets, always in Church and I was so thrilled for our three hours. I have seen her only once that I remember since 1945.

The other little picture I wanted to say thank you for, to Mollie and
Shannon, it is a wonderful picture. I do not know why my scanner
made it so little. I will think about that tomorrow.....Scarlett

IT'S A NEW DAY!

Modern Millie (better known as Queenie) is at it again. Time to repaint and clean house...in other words, I thought I would give my blog a face lift. Less painful than going and getting one myself!
What do you think? Brown or Pink? Let me know if you have a preference.

This one is for you Lou...it's what I did on your birthday! Hope you had a good one. I love you!!

YEGOR TAKING AWESOME RESPONSIBILITY

The U. S. Marines sent Yegor, on the right, home for an 18 months
recovery period, so that his injured shoulder will heal completely.
Saturday, after buying Josh's old car for $1.00, getting insurance, filling the tank
up, he took off for the East Coast. A fellow Marine with an injured knee who
was also leaving the Marines, told him about having a shrimp boat,
Yegor is up and down the coast searching for a shrimp boat. It is advertised
you can make $1000 a week. He left on Sat. and by Sun. he had gotten
to the shore and swam in Atlantic Ocean and been to 3 or 4 ports.

I pray the shoulder heals!!!!! They camped at Ragland Bottom last week end, and he swam from one end of theSligo bridge to the other side. Oh to be young! He did not ski but rode on a tube.

How sweet of Josh to help out. Yegor wanted to buy his old car, Josh said no, but he would give it to him and later when Yegor got through with it, he could give it back.

Oh, and there is that sweet little Gaege Anderton again! I went to Judy's last
night and we celebrated Gaege's 8th birthday. He flew into Nashville from
Washington along with his brother Kyle on Sunday, for a few weeks with Juju
and Lulu. Gaege had already had a big birthday party before coming so we
had to celebrate again!

My dreams will be of you, darling,
on this, our anniversary night.

Christmas in July and Edsel Honored....

A family tradition; song, food and fellowship!

By now you have all gotten an email from Paulette telling about her and Nicholle's annual Christmas in July celebration for the Floyd family, on July 21st.

The following day, Sunday, the 22nd at 2:00, the state Legislature will unveil the "Edsel Cordell Floyd Bridge", on the Watertown bypass, honoring the Watertown Icon.

I know that some of you can't be there for both events, but perhaps you can be there for one or the other of these special events.

In the above picture you see Ed with Representative Stratton Bone, and the Speaker during the session where Ed was told about the bridge being named after him. This Speaker asked Edsel if he was surprised at being given this honor (mind you these lawmakers had been warned of Edsel's perfectly available sense of humor!). Edsel replied, "Well, yes and no, I was honored but not surprised." When asked why, he said, "Rep. Bone told me last fall that if I made a generous donation to his campaign he would see that there was a bridge named after me...I was thinking like the bridge spanning the Cumberland River and I made the donation. Then he was asked how much did he donate and Ed replied, "half dollar."

Gotta love this man!

In the other picture you see some of Edsel's siblings and his son trying not to show embarrassment by what might come out next and at the same time popping buttons that his sweet man was being given such a high honor.
Love you, "Tiny Turned up nose." Mother and Dad will be watching!

This picture is reminisce of the 20 to 30
little black headed baby's that have graced
the Patton family throught the years. This includes
the 9 little monkeys that are in the last post.
It also included Thomas, although he may
have had a little blonde wig, Jacob,
Mickenna, Casey, Gaege and Jalyn,
along with my four little black headed
ones, and their 10 little ones.
This picture was made in the nursery at
the SanDiego Zoo. Was so precious I
could hardly keep my hands off.

WE ARE THANKSFUL FOR OUR SERVICE MEN

JUST LOOK WHO IS AT HOME. I KNOW HIS PARENTS AND THE FARM AND
MURPHY ARE HAPPY TODAY TO HAVE YEGOR AT HOME AFTER A LONG
RIDE HOME.
HE HAD BEEN IN "SEPARATION QUARTERS" FOR LACK OF BETTER LANGUAGE,
WAITING UNTIL THE MARINES THOUGHT HE WAS READY TO COME HOME.
HE WAS SENT HOME TO RECUPERATE AFTER HAVING A SHOULDER OUT
OF PLACE AND SURGERY DURING BASIC TRAIING. HE WAS ABOUT TO BE
SELECTED THE BEST RECRUIT WHEN HE WAS INJURED, THEY THINK HE
NEEDS A 18 MONTH HEALING PERIOD.
HIS BROTHER KIRILL., RIGHT, IN STILL NEAR FRESNO, CA, DOING BEAUTIFULLY,
KEEPING A CLOSE WATCH ON ALL NAVY OPERATIONS.
YEGOR IS HOME JUST IN TIME FOR ALL THE EXCITEMENT OF THE
BLANKENBECKLER-PATTON WEDDING IN AUGUST.
I HAVE NOT SEEN YEGOR YET, AND CAN'T WAIT UNTIL TOMORROW TO SEE
HIM, WE TALKED TODAY, SOUNDS GREAT!
