This computer has a mind of its own. I selected
the order for these pictures, but he changed them around.
What happy days these were at the House of Patton.
I have more Christmas' will have to look for them. If you
wanted it you only had to ask for Christmas. Santa tried so
hard to get it on the sleigh. A bicycle, a helmet, a football all
in the same Christmas. Dolls beds and a record player. Pretty
good for poor folks. I would love to go back for a day.

I just love these pictures. I see the lamp and a chair you still have. Is there anything else? What about the picture on the wall. I know you have Betty's, but what about the other one? Did we really eat that much fruit? I would have loved to have had some chicken's in a coop! Did Dad make Honey's dog house? Is that a gun under Hugh's feet in the pictures of him seated in round chair? What color was our living room? Looks like the paint was changed once and also the curtains. You made our home so pretty. Thanks Moma, for helping us hold on to our memories.
Of course, he got guns every
Christmas of his life. Played with
them too. He, Jimmy, John Nance,
Bill Jewell,and who else? played
from the vacant lot in front of our
house, down about eight houses to
John Nance's house It was just
wooded area between houses on Main
St. and Woodland. They played all
day and if Mrs. Jewell fed them I
don't remember but he was always
home for dinner. Did not have to
worry about your children in those
days.Daddy made Honey's doghouse.
We had a hard time keeping him
quite.I remember the room was
green once. Don't remember if he
painted it other colors or not.
We used dark colors back then.
We borrowed $200.00 went to Nashville and bought the barrel
back chair, a lamp, coffee table,
end table, three throw rugs, a
fireplace tool set and gave Thomas
Parker $25 for the dining room table, which Josh has. He found
us 6 chairsfor $5.00 each.We used
Mothers old studeo couch and little
refridgerator. Cut down a real tall
bed from Pattons barn, should
never have done that. and painted
an unfinished chest for "Our Cloths" Did not have to worry about the XYZ wires running to
every room.If we had Dad would
have done it. We were as happy
as you will be when you move into
your new home on Haley Road.
I've played Santa - all my days
Worked my kids in many ways.
Slipped and slided - let them doubt
Called them in and sent them out.
Didn't say any untruthful things
Just look see here what Santa brings.
But all my life I've tried to pose,
Now I'm glad the last one knows
EMG
Queenie, I am tempted to transfer your comments to the blog itself! What great memories and a lovely story well told.
All I know is that you must have given all of us wonderful deep down memories of Christmas, why else would we continue to try so hard to make magic during that time of the year? Maybe because we just must!

I love these photos - what a treasure of family history. The early ones do look a little "Leave it to Beaver."
